How the date is estimated
With continuous service, age and service generally each increase by one year, so the combined total rises by about two per year. The tool estimates the date the total reaches 80, applies the basic tier minimum age, and compares it with the separate age-65-and-five-years path.
What can change the result
- Partial service, breaks or unpaid leave.
- Purchased, refunded or reinstated service.
- Grandfathered status and membership return dates.
- A tier shown incorrectly in the input.
- Legislative changes after the reviewed date.
Important distinction
Rule of 80 eligibility is not the same for every tier.Tiers 3–4 generally add an age-60 condition; Tiers 5–6 generally add age 62. Confirm the official category.
